ECMapper – software for Eigenharps

ECMapper is actually two separate applications. One of them, “EigenCore”, communicates with the Eigenharp hardware, and the other, also confusingly named “ECMapper” (sorry!), receives the raw Eigenharp data from EigenCore and converts that to musically useful MIDI data. Both applications are available for MacOS (only) as both standalone and VST3 plugin versions. The current release can be downloaded from the GitHub project page.

ECMapper is primarily designed for convenient integration of Eigenharps with the excellent live-performance software Gig Performer, but should hopefully also work well as a “low-tech”, light-weight alternative to the official EigenD software where the full feature-set of EigenD isn’t really needed.

ECMapper quick-start guide for three different use-cases – standalone, with Cubase and with Gig Performer.

Advanced Gig Performer tips and tricks

Some Gig Performer resources are included in the installation bundle. This section will be updated with some information on what those files are and how to get the most out of ECMapper in Gig Performer.

Mapping reference guide

Although ECMapper is meant to be easy to understand and use, some complexity is unavoidable for a tool of this kind. Without a good technical understanding of MIDI and MPE, the mapper settings might be hard to get right. This section will be updated with explanations of what various settings and features actually do.

Credits

ECMapper is only possible because of the efforts of the ever-industrious TheTechnoBear. His EigenLite library for communicating with the Eigenharp hardware is the heart of EigenCore. In addition, his Eigenharp software MEC has been a useful reference and has influenced the source-code of ECMapper.
