Octachainer is a small, free Windows and Mac application for creating sample chains for the Octatrack and other samplers. This long overdue update fixes some bugs and implements some minor new features suggested by users to improve the workflow.
My Axoloti synth block for the ROLI BLOCKS
Ever since I got the Seaboard Block a while back I wanted a companion "synth block" for it. Since one didn't exist, I decided to make my own with an Axoloti board. I wanted it to serve both as a host for the Roli blocks and as an MPE synth. The video below should give... Continue Reading →

Seaboard Block in a hardware setup
I've been interested in the Roli Blocks for a while. I liked the concept of a small, portable MPE controller, but was sceptical of their apparent dependence on a computer or iOS device. When I tried finding info on whether they would make sense in a more hardware oriented setup my searches only revealed other... Continue Reading →
An in-depth look at the Elektron Analog Four CV capabilities
The Analog Four is a four-voice analog synth. Its biggest asset is Elektron's renowned step sequencer. Contrary to many people's expectations, you cannot use it to sequence other gear via midi. However, the A4 have four very flexible control voltage (CV) outputs that makes it a very nice buddy for a modular or other CV... Continue Reading →
Two months with a MacBook Air for audio
A while back I was writing about whether or not to introduce a computer to our setup. Now that I’ve had my MacBook Air for close to two months I wanted to write a follow-up on my experience so far. So, was it a good idea? I’m still not sure, actually. I have some frustrating... Continue Reading →
Getting started with Axoloti
I was a backer of Axoloti, a crowdfunded micro-controller board with inputs and outputs for audio and midi, as well as both USB client and host capabilities. The board is programmed with graphical patching software in similar to Max/MSP. I received my board shortly after I got my Eigenharp, and so I was too busy with EigenD and my new... Elektron Analog Four with Polyphonic Multidimensional Controllers (PMCs)
When I decided to get an Eigenharp, it was with the intention of mainly using it as a controller for my existing hardware instruments. Controlling hardware synths with polyphonic multidimensional controllers seemed to be less than ideal because of the limitations of midi, so I was a bit worried this might not work out as... The Eigenharp Tau
I've been fascinated by the Eigenharp since I first read about it in a SoundOnSound article 5-6 years ago. Recently I finally decided to order a Tau. I've had it for a month now, and have spent as much time with it as I can. These are my thoughts so far: Hardware Wow! I didn't... Continue Reading →
